KitBrix ToteBrix Extra Large Tote Bag Review

The waterproof, do-it-all carry-all for active women

I’ll admit it: I’m a bit of a tote bag snob. I’ve owned everything from flimsy high-street shoppers that collapse under a single water bottle to luxury totes that cost more than my gym membership and still can’t cope with a pair of trainers. The problem is real — active women need one bag that carries gym kit, swim gear, a laptop and a change of clothes without falling apart or digging into your shoulder. So when I got my hands on the KitBrix Extra Large Tote Bag (ToteBrix), I was hopeful but sceptical. Spoiler: it’s become my genuine go-to.

WSS™ Assessment

Female-Specific Design & Sizing — 4/5 ★★★★☆

The ToteBrix is clearly designed with women in mind, and it shows in the details that matter to how it carries. The padded, adjustable shoulder strap sits comfortably across a female shoulder and distributes weight evenly, so even loaded with gym gear, a laptop and a spare hoodie it never bites in. It’s functional, feminine and fuss-free, a rare combination.

Functional Performance in Use — 5/5 ★★★★★

This is where the ToteBrix earns its stripes. I tested it over two days dashing around London — tube, coffee shops, client meetings, gym — and it didn’t miss a beat. It’s genuinely waterproof, so kit stays dry on a damp changing-room floor or in a downpour, and the BaseBrix™ moulded base is practically indestructible on gravel or in a puddle. The 600D polyester is strong without being heavy, so a full bag never feels like lugging a brick.

Fit, Adjustability & Size Range — 4/5 ★★★★☆

For carry-fit and capacity, this is the standout. The adjustable strap and reinforced handles give you real flexibility in how you carry, and the semi-rigid structure holds its shape without poking your side. Inside, multiple compartments and mesh pockets keep keys, wallet and headphones organised, while shoes live in the main compartment without flattening clothes. It even folds flat for small-space storage — clever, and rare at this size.

Safety & Performance Standards — 4/5 ★★★★☆

On construction and durability, the ToteBrix feels built to last. The tough 600D polyester, the near-indestructible BaseBrix™ bottom, the zippered top and the wipe-clean interior all point to equipment you’ll keep for years rather than a fast-fashion throwaway. KitBrix also references recycled fabric in the build. The waterproofing, durability and sustainability claims are the brand’s own and my own use suggests they are well founded.

Transparency & User Reviews — 4/5 ★★★★☆

My score here rests on my hands-on use: I lived with this bag across gym sessions, commutes and an overnight trip, and reported what I actually found. User reviews on there site show 4.6/5 and very much aligns with my peronsal experince of using the bag. KitBrix is clear about the headline features — the BaseBrix™ system, the wet/dry pocket, the bottle holder and the recycled fabric. What isn’t published is a formal testing methodology or independent certification of the waterproof rating, so I’d love to see those details added for full transparency.

Pros & Cons

What I loved:

  • Genuinely waterproof, with a near-indestructible BaseBrix™ base
  • Padded, adjustable strap that’s comfortable even when fully loaded
  • Huge, well-organised capacity with multiple compartments and a bottle pocket
  • Strong but light 600D polyester; wipe-clean and folds flat for storage

Gentle watch-outs:

  • Extra large means it can feel heavy or cumbersome if you over-pack it
  • Female-specific engineering and the waterproof rating aren’t independently verified
  • Mid-range price — more than an everyday tote (though it replaces several bags)

Who It’s For / Who It’s Not For

It’s for you if you juggle multiple roles — gym-goer, commuter, swimmer, occasional over-packer — and want one structured, waterproof bag that handles a 6 a.m. workout, a work day and a weekend break with equal ease.

It’s probably not for you if you want a small, minimalist everyday bag, or you need a featherweight carry — when fully loaded, this is a substantial bag by design.

Fit & Sizing

When KitBrix says “extra large,” they mean it — but it’s large in a useful way, not a “where did my keys go?” way. It easily swallowed my gym gear, trainers, towel, water bottle, snacks, laptop and jacket, with the BaseBrix™ base keeping everything upright and stable. Inside, smaller pockets held keys and wallet while shoes stayed in the main compartment without crushing clothes. It hits a real sweet spot: big enough for weekend travel, structured enough for work, and still manageable day to day. Over-pack it, though, and the size does start to tell on your shoulder.

The Verdict

The KitBrix ToteBrix is the best tote I’ve owned: big without being bulky, smart without being fussy, and tough without losing its style. From gym floors to airport gates it handles everything with ease, and the waterproof BaseBrix™ base means you stop babying it. If you want one structured, women-focused carry-all to replace your gym, work and weekend bags, this is it. I’d love to see the durability claims independently verified — but on real-world use, KitBrix nailed it.

FAQ

Is the KitBrix ToteBrix tote bag actually waterproof?

Yes — the ToteBrix is built to keep your kit dry on a damp changing-room floor or in a sudden downpour, and the moulded BaseBrix™ base shrugs off puddles and gravel. Waterproofing is based on KitBrix’s own design claims rather than independent lab data.

How much can the KitBrix ToteBrix hold?

Plenty. In my testing it swallowed gym gear, trainers, a towel, water bottle, snacks, a laptop and a jacket with room to spare. It’s genuinely extra large, which is brilliant for weekend trips but can feel heavy if you over-pack it.

Is the KitBrix ToteBrix comfortable to carry when full?

Very. The padded, adjustable shoulder strap spreads the load evenly across a female shoulder, and the reinforced handles make hand-carrying easy. Even fully loaded it sits neatly under the arm without slipping or constant readjustment.

Does the KitBrix ToteBrix work for gym, swim and travel?

That’s its strength. It moves seamlessly from gym bag to swim bag to travel tote, with a wet/dry pocket, a bottle holder and a wipe-clean interior. One structured bag genuinely replaces several single-use ones.

Is the KitBrix ToteBrix designed specifically for women?

It’s marketed for women and the strap, proportions and styling suit that brief well. That said, dedicated female-specific engineering isn’t documented — based on product-page claims only — so treat it as a women-focused design rather than a verified female-fit system.
